– Led office responsible for implementing cost savings and operational improvement projects across state government
– Led a voluntary insurance benefit RFP that, for the first time in Pennsylvania, permitted state employees with same-sex partners to cover their loved ones and eventually led to Pennsylvania extending health benefits to same-sex partners of state employees.
– Assisted Board of Governors at the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education with implementing cost savings measures to keep tuition low for students – many of whom were the first in their families to attend college
– Worked with Department of Corrections and Board of Probation and Parole to identify ways of improving parole process to reduce the likelihood that individuals would reoffend

– Provided economic and financial analysis to local governments of all sizes, including the city of Chicago and municipalities with populations fewer than 10,000 people
– Found consensus solutions to addressing underfunded public safety pensions. Successfully mediated nationally-recognized comprehensive agreements between taxpayers, cities, and public safety employees in Lexington, KY, and Chattanooga, TN, that protected benefits and was fair to taxpayers

– Founded company dedicated to providing governments with objective, straightforward advice that solves workforce problems, improves services, and saves money
– Assist cities in financial difficulty with developing and implementing financial recovery plans
– Successfully mediated comprehensive agreement between taxpayers, city, and firefighters in New Orleans, LA, to rescue a severely underfunded firefighter pension plan
– Taught municipal finance classes at national and state conferences
– At time of company founding, also had a solo law practice representing low income individuals who were losing their homes in foreclosure
